Former Student is New Owner of Tumble-Bee Gymnastics in Rockland

Former Student is New Owner of Tumble-Bee Gymnastics in Rockland

Cheryl Holm of Tumble-Bee Gymnastics passes the torch to former student Marie Wood as the Rockland County school enters its 37th year in business.

There's a lot of new buzzing in the hive at Tumble-Bee Gymnastics in Nanuet, Rockland, as the gym kicks off its 37th year in September and ushers in alumnus Marie Wood as its new owner.

Cheryl Holm, who ran the gym for over three and a half decades, is ready to  see it continue to flourish under Marie's leadership.

"After 36 fulfilling years, it is time for me to pass the torch so I can spend more time with my family, friends and grandkids!” Cheryl told us.

She's thrilled to now pass the torch to one of her favorite people and a former student.  Marie was one of the gym's first students when Tumble-Bee opened back in August 1986 in Pearl River. She participated in their programs from a very young age, starting in baby gym and then moving onto team classes. She eventually joined the staff as a part-time manager while in high school and college, and later stayed on after getting married and having two children of her own.

"Marie is the perfect, most energetic person to take over Tumble-Bee and continue to offer exciting gymnastics programs, events, parties and customer service," Cheryl said.

One of Marie's first initiatives as Tumble-Bee's new owner was to simplify the process of registration and class scheduling with a new app she designed herself, resulting in a highly efficient experience for students, parents and teachers. With the help of the other "worker bees," she plans to continue the gym's success by offering exciting theme weeks, camps, drop-off programs, open gyms, birthday parties, tumble and gymnastics classes and more. Marie says she and the staff are really looking forward seeing the students and their families next month.

Former owner Cheryl expressed her gratitude for the continued community support and many years of loyalty and friendship from all of the gym's wonderful families. She says it has been so rewarding to see so many past Tumble-Bee students returning with their own kids and even grandkids.

"It's the greatest compliment a business can receive," she said proudly. "With continued support, Tumble-Bee will be here for many more years to come."
