Sesame Street Releases Resources for Celebrating Earth Day

Sesame Street Releases Resources for Celebrating Earth Day

Here are some fun Sesame Street resources to help you and your family celebrate Earth Day this year.

Sesame Workshop is back with more fun and educational resources for kids. This time, we're celebrating Earth Day—which is on April 22 this year. The non-profit behind Sesame Street offers a collection of resources to teach kids about the environment and understand the importance of all that the Earth provides for us.

“It’s never too early for children to start appreciating nature and caring for the environment -- and with a little help from Elmo and the Sesame Street Muppets, it can be fun, too!” said Gabriela Arenas, vice president of licensing, North America, Sesame Workshop. “These books, songs, and videos will give parents the tools and inspiration to foster their children’s love of our planet.”

The Go Green with Sesame Street book series introduces children to earth-friendly concepts, like conserving energy, saving water, and recycling. Bert and Ernie, Super Grover, and Oscar the Grouch will help the reader learn what they can do to make a difference.

Sesame Street: Being Green is a video special that will make a return for Earth Day. Paul Rudd will guest star as Mr. Earth to teach Elmo and his friends how truly easy it is to be green.  You can watch Being Green with your kids on all major on-demand platforms.

For lots of Earth Day videos, check out Sesame Street's YouTube playlist, complete with songs, segments, and DIY tutorials to help get kids interested in the environment, like Lin-Manuel Miranda's "It's a Habitat" and Ellie Goulding's "Thank You Clouds." There will also be crafts families can create reusing household objects.
