Whether you’re going back-to-school shopping for your kids, holiday shopping for the whole family, or just want to treat yourself to a little something nice, there are plenty of shopping and outlet malls in NYC, Westchester, and Long Island to choose from! 1. Atlantic Terminal + Center

Located in the epicenter of Downtown Brooklyn, this shopping center features such stores as Old Navy, Marshalls, Burlington, Target, and Uniqlo. And if your kids need a break from back-to-school shopping, stop at one of the many restaurants, including Buffalo Wild Wings, Applebee’s, and Subway, then treat them to a custom cone from Cold Stone Creamery.

2. Kings Plaza

5100 Kings Plaza, Mill Basin

Send the kids back to school in style with a trip to Kings Plaza for all their fall and winter clothes. This famous Brooklyn mall has many kids' clothing shops, including The Children's Place, Abercrombie Kids, and Kids Foot Locker. Swing by Best Buy for any back-to-school technology needs. Do some pre-shopping research by visiting the mall's website, where you can get information about current sales happening at individual stores. Kids who need a break from the shopping experience can refresh at kiddie rides located near the mall's two main escalators: Level 1 Flatbush Avenue entrance and the Avenue U entrance.

1. Brookfield Place

Brookfield Place is a shopping center and office building complex in lower Manhattan. It is home to many clothing stores for men, women, and children, including J. Crew and Monica and Andy, both of which carry children’s lines.

2. East River Plaza

Choose from a variety of department stores to do your fall and back-to-school shopping. Target, Burlington, and Marshall's are just a few of the major retailers that can be found in this East Side shopping center.

3. Hudson Yards New York

Located between Tenth and Twelfth avenues, between 30 to 34 streets, Hudson Yards

Hudson Yards is home to more than 100 shops and dining establishments but visitors to this popular Manhattan destination can take in more than a shopping experience. The venue features The Shed, a new center for artistic invention that commissions and presents work by artists across a variety of disciplines. When it's time to get back to shopping, Hudson Yards has many children's clothing stores, including Camp, which has a cafe, an interactive space for play, and theater activities and programming. Other children's stores on-site include Kenzo and H&M.

4. Manhattan Mall

Sixth Avenue, from 32 to 33 streets, Midtown

Because of its small size, this mall is great for a quick and easy shopping experience. Located half a block from the Empire State Building, there's lots to see and do in the area, including sightseeing—and if the kids are up to it—a visit to nearby Macy's in Herald Square. There's a bit of history here, too, with the mall being located on the site of the former Gimbels department store, which was open from 1910-1986.

5. Rockefeller Center Shopping

Recognize the end of summer with a trip to Rockefeller Center. Bring the kids to have some fun (and maybe pick out a fun toy) at some of the center's stores for kids, such as FAO Schwarz, LEGO, Nintendo NY, Posman Books, PIQ, and more. There is also the FDNY Fire Zone, which raises public awareness about fire safety and sells clothing and FDNY collectibles.

6. Shops at Columbus Circle

Located south of Central Park, the Shops at Columbus Circle is an upscale shopping mall that is home to more than 50 retail shops and boutiques, including Camp, Tortoise, H&M and others that carry clothing for everyone in the family. Plus, personal shopping, styling, and other services are available at many of the shops on-site.

7. Westfield World Trade Center

185 Greenwich St., FiDi
Hours: Sunday, 12-6pm; Monday-Saturday, 11am-7pm

On-site stores that carry kids' apparel include COS, H&M, and Under Armour. Stop by Apple, AT&T, and Toytoise for electronics needs. Shopping and Outlet Malls in Queens

1. Queens Center Mall

90-15 Queens Blvd., Elmhurst
Hours: Monday-Saturday, 10am-9pm; Sunday, 11am-8pm

Shop for back-to-school necessities at many major retailers at this Queens-based mall. JCPenney, Macy's, and H&M are some of the stores that carry clothes for kids, including accessories such as backpacks and athletic wear. Visit the mall's website for Kids Club, where kids learn through activity pages and craft videos.

2. Shops at Skyview Center

40-24 College Point Blvd., Flushing

Shop major retailers including Carter's Babies and Kids, The Children's Place, and Old Navy for kids' clothes. Before visiting, check out what's on sale on the website. Electronics, clothing, and other stores that are destinations for back-to-school clothes and supplies are often featured.

Shopping and Outlet Malls on Staten Island

1. Empire Outlets

55 Richmond Terrace, Staten Island
Hours: Monday-Saturday, 10am-8pm; Sunday, 11am-7pm

As New York City's only outlet shopping destination, the four-level Empire Outlets are located within walking distance from the Staten Island Ferry Terminal in St. George. With a picture-perfect view of lower Manhattan, the outlets have a variety of brand-name stores, including the Nordstrom Rack, Nike Factory Store, and Columbia Factory Store.

2. Staten Island Mall

2655 Richmond Ave., Staten Island
Hours: Individual store hours vary. The mall recommends contacting each store directly for their hours.

The Staten Island Mall, which recently underwent a renovation, is a destination for locals, but people come from all over the metro area to shop here. The mall features more than 200 stores, including Carter's, Primark, and Ultimate Fashions, all of which carry children's sizes. Visit a variety of sports and fitness stores including Foot Locker, Adidas, and Champs to shop necessary items for kids' extracurricular activities and sports. Electronics and technology stores include Apple, AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile.

Shopping and Outlet Malls in Westchester County

1. Cross County Center

8000 Mall Walk, Yonkers
Hours: Monday-Saturday, 10am-9:30pm; Sunday, 11am-7pm

Located minutes from The Bronx and Manhattan, this sprawling shopping destination is home to more than 80 shops and restaurants. Retailers include The Children's Place, Adidas, Claire's, and Cohens' Fashion Optical. Visit the mall's website to see featured products for back-to-school.

2. Galleria White Plains

3. Ridge Hill

Ridge Hill is a classic multi-level and one-stop shop for kids' back-to-school needs, including clothing, electronics, and other supplies. Stores include Dick's Sporting Goods, L.L. Bean, GAP, and Apple. There are many family entertainment options, too, including a trampoline park, LEGOLAND Discovery Center Westchester, and, set to open in October, a movie theater.

4. The Westchester

125 Westchester Ave., White Plains
Hours: Monday-Thursday, 11am-8pm; Friday-Saturday, 10am-9pm; Sunday, 11am-6pm

Centrally located near the communities of Chappaqua, Scarsdale, Bedford, and Rye, The Westchester features 140 luxury stores including Tiffany & Co., Burberry, Nordstrom, and Neiman Marcus. Shopping and Outlet Malls on Long Island

1. Americana Manhasset

2060 Northern Blvd., Manhasset

Located approximately 20 miles from Manhattan, this upscale shopping area features more than 60 luxury and contemporary shops. Notable fashion retailers that carry children’s lines include J. Crew, Brooks Brothers, and Ralph Lauren. The outlets have a Personal Shopping Suite, located within the storefront concierge, available by appointment only. The suite features an appointed reception area and lounge, and three spacious and private rooms. Shoppers can review clothing, accessories, and gift selections with expert personal shoppers.

2. Green Acres Mall

3. Roosevelt Field Mall

One of the largest shopping malls in the country, Roosevelt Field has more than 200 stores, including The Children’s Place, JCPenney, H&M, and J.Crew. Take a break from shopping by choosing a restaurant from the mall's extensive list that includes a variety of sit-down and grab-and-go dining options. 4. Sunrise Mall

1 Sunrise Mall, Massapequa

This two-level mall has more than 50 retailers. Shops include Cohen's Fashion Optical, Dick's Sporting Goods, Kids Foot Locker, Claire's, and Macy's. And don’t forget to check the website to see what current sales are happening!

5. Tanger Outlets

200 Tanger Mall Drive, Riverhead

More than 165 brand-name outlets are located at this shopping center. Children's stores include Abercrombie Kids, The Children's Place, OshKosh B'gosh, and many outlet retailers that care adult and kids' sizes. Shoppers can visit the Shopper Services desk upon arrival to pick up a savings coupon book and learn about current deals and specials. There is a one-time fee of $10 to join the Tanger Club, which offers exclusive deals and perks daily, plus rewards when you meet spending levels.

6. Walt Whitman Shops

160 Walt Whitman Road, Huntington Station
Hours: Monday-Thursday, 11am-8pm; Friday-Saturday, 10am-9pm; Sunday, 11am-7pm

This indoor shopping mall has more than 80 shops, including three major department stores: Macy’s, Bloomingdales, and Saks Fifth Avenue. Visit Chasing Summer, a newly opened shop at the mall that carries clothing for men, women, and children.
