Celebrity Storytimes to Entertain and Enchant your Child

UPDATED June 30: With the many changes and uncertainties COVID-19 has brought upon your family, including a shift to homeschooling and family time virtually 24/7, you may need a break from reading your little one her bedtime story each night. Likewise, maybe your kids need a new way to wind down at night or a little spirit lifting during these uncertain times. Actors from kids’ favorites like Frozen, Moana, Enchanted, and Toy Story, authors of favorite kids’ books like Dan Gutman, and other household names like Julie Andrews and Dolly Parton are reading stories via social media for your family to enjoy while staying safe at home.

PBS KIDS and Little Free Library

As part of PBS's latest Read Along initiative on Facebook and YouTube, PBS Kids partnered with Little Free Library for a new collection of story-time videos this summer to encourage togetherness for kids and parents. NBA Legend Dwayne Wade kicked off the series on June 29 when he read Gabrielle Union's children's book Welcome to the Party. Upcoming participants include Camila Alves McConaughey, Tim Gunn, Marley Dias, Boris Kodjoe, and Carla Hall. The story-times will feature books with diverse authors and characters and bilingual readings, according to PBS. You can watch previous installments of PBS Kids' Read Alongs on the PBS Kids YouTube channel, including read alongs with Michelle Obama and Kristen Bell. 

Save with Stories

In partnership with Save the Children and No Kid Hungry, Jennifer Garner and Amy Adams launched Save with Stories, which offers celebrity storytimes on Instagram and Facebook (in English and Spanish) to children stuck at home and raises money to ensure schools and community programs have the support to meet health, education, and nutrition needs of kids impacted by coronavirus.
