Weekly Art Camp Explores Unique Painting Techniques

Art Adventure, an art studio in Orangeburg that offers classes, birthday parties, and school break camps, will offer weekly summer art camps this year.

Starting July 20, Art Adventure in Orangeburg will offer weekly summer classes for children ages 5-10. The fine art instruction studio has offered mini-camps during school breaks and holidays, but this is the first time it is offering summer camps.

Children will work on two large projects per session. Some projects include painting, drawing with charcoal, and paper mâché. Some of the more creative projects done are remote controlled car painting, in which the wheels of R.C. cars are dipped in paint. Children then control the cars to paint over paper.

“We are very relaxed and fun place for children to come to learn and explore,” Art Adventure co-owner Alysson Burgos says. “We like to keep play involved with learning.”

Every Thursday, children signed up for both half and full days go on field trips that relate to the theme of the week. Past themes for school break camps have included aviation, physics, and sculpture.

Art Adventure provides lunch, a snack break, and time after lunch to play games. All instructors are certified and experienced art teachers.

Summer camp runs in one-week programs running from July 20-Aug. 28 in half- and full-day sessions. The two half-day sessions run from 9am-1pm and 1-5pm. A discount is applied to children who are signed up for a full day that runs from 9am-5pm. A half-day one-week session costs $245, and a full-day one-week session costs $392. Office hours are Thursday-Friday, 10am-8:30pm and Saturday, 10-11am.
