    Wegmans to Open in Brooklyn in the Fall, Provide Estimated 500 Jobs

    The northeastern supermarket chain is opening its first NYC location in the fall and it will hire more than 500 employees.

    The beloved, upstate-based supermarket chain is expected to open its first New York City location in Brooklyn at Brooklyn’s Navy Yard in the fall. The highly anticipated expansion will offer more than 500 jobs, including 150 full-time positions. The hiring process for these positions will begin next month. 

    “We’re always looking for hyper-local, but really we’re looking at just good people,” said Wegmans manager Kevin Cuff to Fox 5.

     The 74,000 square-foot location will include a 100 seat in-store market café, a bar that serves food, wine, beer, and spirits, and, of course, a supermarket. The NYC location has been in the works for years, with its original expected opening date in 2017, and another in late 2018.
