LEGOLAND New York Resort Opening Postponed Due to COVID-19

LEGOLAND New York Resort Opening Postponed Due to COVID-19

Previously purchased annual passes or single-day tickets will be honored when the resort opens in 2021.

Originally slated for July 4 2020, LEGOLAND New York Resort's opening has been postponed to 2021 in adherence to the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as a result of COVID-19. The postponement of the highly-anticipated Goshen theme park's opening is consistent with closures of venues all over the world to slow the spread of the Coronavirus.

“Nothing is more important to us than the health, safety and security of our team, the partners we work with, and the communities we serve,” LEGOLAND New York Resort Divisional Director Stephanie Johnson said in a press release. “We are in an unprecedented situation that has affected businesses worldwide. By opening LEGOLAND New York Resort in 2021 we are building an attraction that not only meets our high standards, it also gives our guests the best possible experience.”

If your family already purchased annual passes or single-day tickets, they will be honored when the resort opens in 2021. Additionally, if you booked a vacation package through LEGOLAND Vacations, you will be given the opportunity to be the first to book for 2021.

“We are grateful for the support and understanding from our guests and neighbors as we navigate the challenges caused by the coronavirus pandemic,” Johnson said. “We look forward to building unforgettable memories with our guests and their families when we open in 2021.”

LEGOLAND New York still plans to hire more than 1,000 employees to staff both the theme park and hotel, and hourly employees who already received an offer for 2020 will be invited to join the team in 2021.

Some things to look forward to when the park opens in 2021 include:

  • Eight lands including Lego Ninjago, Lego City, Knights Kingdom, Pirate Shores, Miniland, Heartlake City, and Bricktopia
  • A 250-room Legoland Hotel for families staying for several days with children, that is completely Lego-themed with four different rooms (Lego Ninjago, Pirate, Castle, and Lego Friends)
  • The Factory, which takes you on a step by step journey through the process of making Legos
  • Over 50 rides, shows, and attractions, several of which that are unique to LEGOLAND New York Resort

The park will be geared toward ages 2-12, and is located just 60 miles northwest of New York City in the Hudson Valley. This location is slated to be the largest LEGOLAND location, with more than 50 rides, shows, attractions, and more for families of all kinds. Upon opening of the park, COACH USA is planning to offer direct bus service from Port Authority to LEGOLAND New York “to make it easier for families from this area to get to it,” says Matt Besterman, public relations manager of LEGOLAND New York.

Johnson says the resort and staff will continue to monitor the evolving situation. Any updates regarding LEGOLAND New York Resort can be found on social media, via email, and on its website
