IKEA is Officially Open in Queens: What You Need to Know

IKEA is Officially Open in Queens: What You Need to Know

IKEA opened to the public in the Rego Center shopping mall on Jan. 11.

IKEA's first Queens store opened to the public in the Rego Center shopping mall at the corner of Queens Boulevard & Junction Boulevard. The store offers a new, smaller format with a full range of products—the first of its kind in the U.S. The room sets and digital tools focus on sustainable, small-space living solutions to cater to the quintessential New Yorker lifestyle.

The Queens IKEA location was chosen strategically as it is just a block away from Q59 and Q60 bus stops and is right next to the 63rd Drive - Rego Park subway station (serving the M and R trains). The IKEA Queens location will be open daily 10am-9pm. This is IKEA's third New York City store—accompanied by the Planning Studio in Manhattan and IKEA Brooklyn. IKEA also has stores on Long Island, in Elizabeth and Paramus, NJ, and a fulfilment center in Staten Island.

“At IKEA we’re on a journey to transform our business to meet our customers wherever they are and how they like to shop. As life at home has taken on a new meaning this year for so many people, our customers’ needs and behaviors are changing too, and we hope our new Queens store will serve as a convenient and accessible source of inspiration and home furnishing expertise for New Yorkers,” said Javier Quiñones, president & chief sustainability officer, IKEA Retail U.S

IKEA Queens will be different than the Planning Studio that opened in Manhattan in April of 2019. At this location, shoppers will be able to:

  • Buy and take home portable home furnishing accessories that will be curated for New Yorkers
  • Purchase all other products and set up home delivery to anywhere in NYC for a flat rate fee of $49
  • Use self-pay and assisted check out options
  • Schedule appointments with IKEA staff to plan kitchens, living rooms, and bedrooms

COVID-19 health and safety precautions will be taken to protect customers and employees including physical distancing guidance, hygiene practices, temperature checks for employees, rigorous cleaning and sanitization, and strict capacity limits.
