Pumpkin Point Returns to Governors Island this Month

Families will enjoy pumpkin picking and lots of festive activities

Get ready to get your pumpkin on, New Yorkers! Governors Island Pumpkin Point, the annual pumpkin patch and fall festival, is back to delight families and kids of all ages on Saturdays and Sundays, Oct. 22-23 and Oct. 29-30. The best part is, it's free!

If your family loves to carve pumpkins, this patch is for you. You can pick your own pumpkins for free, although the organizers are asking for a suggested donation. Choose from over 1,000 pumpkins of all shapes and sizes. With so many to choose from, you can make your very own festive jack-o'-lantern family to place around your house or yard this year.

“Fall is the perfect time to come explore Governors Island. From beautiful fall foliage to a free pumpkin patch to exciting programming, there is something for everyone,” Clare Newman, president and CEO of the Trust for Governors Island, said. “We invite all New Yorkers to hop on the ferry and take in the changing seasons.”

What To Expect at Governors Island Pumpkin Point

Pumpkin Point is more than a pumpkin patch. Presented by the Trust for Governors Island and the Friends of Governors Island, Pumpkin Point will transform the island's historic Nolan Park into a delightful autumnal escape that will also feature lots of family-friendly fun. Activities include:

  • Arts & Crafts: Oct. 22-23 and Oct. 29-30; 11am-4pm

Pumpkins left over from the event will be donated to local organizations fighting hunger in NYC or composted on Governors Island by Earth Matter, which runs a compost learning center at the Urban Farm on the island.
