Things to do with kids in Rockland County


Enjoy the outdoors at Bear Mountain State Park.

This park, set next to the Hudson River, includes a zoo, open fields, hiking, museums, cross-country skiing, and ice-skating.
 

Dive in at Lake Welch Beach. In warm weather, you can swim and fish in a beautiful lake.


Pick, eat, and enjoy at  The Orchards of Concklin.
Pick produce, feast at a bakery, and enjoy this historic family farm.


Dig in dirt with the Rockland Farm Alliance.
Visit the  Cropsey Community Farm, which has educational programs for the little ones.


See the Stony Point Lighthouse.
Explore the oldest lighthouse on the Hudson River, which includes a museum and activities for kids.


Get your skate on at Palisades Center Ice Rink.
Zip around the ice at this family-friendly rink.


Explore Rockland Lake State Park
. Get into nature with swimming, fishing, tennis, biking, and hiking in summer and fall, and cross-country skiing in winter.


Shop at the  Nyack Farmer’s Market. This robust and long-running market is open Tuesday and Fridays from the beginning of June to almost the end of November.


Get historic at the New York Renaissance Faire in Tuxedo Park. Every August and September, this celebration of Elizabethan England includes rides, games, crafts, and more.


Visit (or join!) the Children’s Shakespeare Theater in Palisades. Check out Shakespeare for kids, by kids.

Get creative at  Legoland Discovery Center Westchester in Yonkers.

Say “Whee” at the  Playland Amusement Park in Rye. With rides for most ages, games, food, and entertainment, this has been a summer treat for generations.
 

Run with the wolves at the Wolf Conservation Center in South Salem. Learn how these creatures affect the environment, how they operate as a species, and how to protect them.


Get inspired at Clearwater’s Great Hudson River Revival Festival in Croton-on-Hudson. Every June, this fun, festive, more-than-50-year-old event has been inspiring song, dance, and environmental stewardship.

Make animal friends at  Beardsley Zoo in Bridgeport.

Explore the cosmos at  Discovery Museum and Planetarium in Bridgeport. Families can check out the stars, the moon, and more through 65 exhibits and a planetarium.


Get dramatic at the Westport Country Playhouse. Be entertained by kid-oriented plays through the year.


Delve into nature at  Audubon Greenwich. This 285-acre nature education center is full of ways for kids to enjoy and learn about nature—through exhibits, puppet shows, hiking trails, and more.
