New Performing Arts Center Opens in the Bergen-Rockland Area

Experienced actress and director Layla Francesca Bundrick took her passion for the performing arts and opened the Acting up Performing Arts Center on Jan. 24 of this year. The goal of Acting Up Performing Arts Center is to provide a safe and creative atmosphere where children will grow intellectually, socially, emotionally and physically through developing their theatrical talents. The studio offers classes and performance opportunities which work together, Bundrick says, to provide students with a seamless and well-rounded experience.

“It’s about really taking the time to make them feel proud about what they’re accomplishing,” Bundrick says.

Various classes are available for children in grades pre-K through 12. They start Feb. 1 and are $59 a month. Performing opportunities, called “Mainstage,” are programs consisting of 13 week rehearsals twice a week, dress rehearsals and two days of full production. Mainstage is broken into three age groups with varying prices: Junior Company Mainstage (grades 1-4) for $725 a season,  Intermediate Mainstage company (grades 5-8) for $825 a season, and Senior Mainstage Company (grades 9-12) for $850 a season. Payment plans are available for both the classes and the Mainstage opportunities.

Acting Up Performing Arts Center also offers birthday party packages starting at $495 where the birthday boy or girl gets to be center stage. Parties are held on Saturdays and Sundays on the Acting Up In-house stage and include an acting-related activity, decoration, food and drinks.
