The Summer Spot Relocates to Congers

The Summer Spot, a nonprofit summer program that provides kids with a high quality summer experience at Rockland Country Day School, is relocating to Congers from Spring Valley. The program, known for its affiliation with parent organization Rockland Afterschool Program, aims to provide social, emotional, and cognitive development for children ages 5 through 14 this summer. Some activities will include performing arts, sports, trips, and water play.

The Summer Spot, licensed by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services, is designed for the working parent. It runs from 8:30am-4pm, but to help working parents it provides two additional services designed to be flexible to parents’ work schedules. Those services are the Breakfast Program, offered from 7:30am-8:30am and providing kids with nourishment to start the day, and the After Care Program, offered from 4pm-6:30pm and allotting time for kids to work on summer homework and receive one-on-one tutoring. Program Director Max McClintock says that the Summer Spot has a family feel to it, and that its smaller environment offers campers individualized attention.

The Summer Spot begins family orientation on Wednesday, April 4, offering a special for those who register before April 30. A 10-percent discount will be available for siblings signing up together. Camp dates run from Monday, July 2 through Friday, Aug. 10.
