Meet the Editor: Dee Saunders

A funny thing happened on my way to parenthood...I got married and signed up for bliss- sleeping in late on weekends, attending poetry readings. It worked like a charm. Hey, you get what you pray for! But it must have upset Murphy's Law, because in the blink of an eye he had the leprechauns check off, right next to my name, "3 babies, 3,000 spit-ups, and 30,000 diapers!"

As the parent of two young-adult sons and a 14-year-old daughter, I realize that parenting is for keeps; a special privilege that parents get so they can tuck away memories, but most of all, a chance to positively impact a child's life. It's a serious job, but it can be hilarious along the way. Neither of us will forget how our older son, as a toddler, got away from us at Alice Tully Hall in the middle of a concerto, crawling under seats and chortling loudly as we tried to catch him. Or the time his brother made up rules for a board game we bought him. When any of us won, he would say, "You can't win, this is my game and these are my rules!" Sounds like The Apprentice to me!
