Come Play with Us!

Imagine a place where you can sing with a GRAMMY winner, meet live animals, wrap yourself inside a bubble and create art worthy of an exhibition -- all in one day! That place exists … and it’s right in your own backyard! Run, skip or jump on over to Long Island Children’s Museum for a day where play and learning go hand in hand.

Play … and Learn at LICM

Fourteen indoor and outdoor exhibit galleries ensure that everyone in the family has a favorite play space; a spot they return to on each and every visit. There are “bubble people,” who start and end each visit by stepping inside a giant bubble, while others scramble immediately to our two-story climbing structure.  The “music maniacs” will head directly upstairs to create original tunes with one of the amazing instruments from around the world, while the lure of building a Roman arch or geodesic dome draw others. These visitor “constants” are supplemented with new experiences offered through our Comings & Goings gallery. Each year three traveling exhibits take up residence to provide new reasons to come back to play.

From Abstract Art to Zoology

The spirit and energy of the Museum is fueled by the busy work of play.  Children are introduced to complex subjects like physics and geometry ... from inside a 6-foot bubble or as they juggle alongside clowns; providing curious minds with information that sticks.

Workshop topics are as varied as the interests of our visitors – designed to inspire the next generation of scientists, environmentalist, artists, engineers and foodies.  The Museum is recognized for its dynamic cultural programs that allow children to learn from and about the traditions and cultures of their neighbors in a welcoming setting.

The Museum offers a range of programs to support our littlest visitors. Daily programs for early learners (birth to five) focus on multi-sensory activities that incorporate language, music, art and tactile experiences for creepers, crawlers and toddlers:

  • stART (story + ART) - Join us each week as we read childhood classics and introduce new favorites; followed by a take-home, book-inspired craft.

Offered Tuesdays and Thursdays.

  • Music & Movement - Enjoy creative movement exercises and interactive sing-alongs that get little bodies moving to the rhythm.

Offered Wednesdays.

  • Kids in the Kitchen  – Little chefs use real cooking tools (with some help from adults) as we make easy, yummy, kid-friendly snacks from start to finish.

Offered Fridays

  • Messy Afternoons  - We’ll be up to our elbows in oobleck, clean mud and slime … and we hope you’ll join us for the type of artistic activities that everyone loves, but not one likes to clean-up after.  Except us!

Offered Saturdays and Sundays
