Join the Revolution, the glorious cause! See how militia men and camp followers of the American Revolutionary War lived in the 1770's. Heard's Brigade of the New Jersey Militia is seeking visitors to cheer on the encampment of 18th century tents, open-fire pit cooking, militia drills, musket firing and other living history demonstrations! Maybe you'll come upon the British and those Loyalists!
NEW - Live music with old-time balladeer Thaddeus MacGregor, musical bard of the Hudson, with fan-favorite Wee Jim the Limberjack; Horse Drawn Hayride (12:30-3:30 pm); Petting Zoo by 4H, Horses R Us, Nickel-O Farms; Tour the Onderdonk-Tallman-Budke and the Vanderbilt-Budke-Traphagen Houses; Lace Making Demonstration by Mayra Petretti—Metropolitan Chapter IOLI; Pumpkin Picking. NEW - Pumpkin painting/carving contest (see Facebook/Website for details); Sheep Shearing by Fred DePaul. Demos on the history of sheep shearing; Colonial Children’s Games by Tom Hunt, Waterside Forge; “Who Was Naut Kanniff? The story of the Witch of West Nyack.” Presented by Clare Sheridan; Pen Turning Workshop, Hudson Valley Wood Turners, for ages 12 and up (pre-registration appreciated); West Nyack Fire Department and local Cub Scout Pack 2049
