Top 5 Rinks to Go Roller Skating Near Rockland County

Your kids will love these outdoor and indoor roller skating rinks in Orange County, Westchester County, and New Jersey.

Going to a rollerblading or roller skating rink near Rockland County isn't just a great way for kids to be active and stay healthy. Roller skating it’s also a fun, inexpensive pastime that the whole family can enjoy. Whether it's rainy, too cold to play outside, or it's too hot to handle the sweltering summer, here’s a list of roller skating places in Orange County, Westchester County, and New Jersey. Oh, and if your kids need to learn how to rollerblade or roller skate, check out these tips.

Roller Skating Rinks in Orange County

1. The Castle Fun Center

109 Brookside Ave., Chester
Approximate drive from Nanuet: 45 minutes
Hours: Through Aug. 31: Sunday-Wednesday, 1:30-3:30pm and 4-6pm; Thursday-Saturday: 1:30-3:30pm, 4-6pm, and 7-9pm. September-April: Thursday, 4-6pm; Friday, 4-6pm and 7-9pm; Saturday, 1:30-3:30pm, 4-6pm, and 7-9pm; Sunday, 1:30-3:30pm and 4-6pm
Cost: $10; $7 children 6 and younger; $4 skate rental

The Castle Fun Center is the perfect destination for roller skating recreation for all ages and every occasion. The venue not only features a 10,000-square-foot roller rink complete with a lighting and sound show, but also go-kart tracks, a multi-level laser tag arena, mini-golf courses, an arcade, and rock climbing wall. Once you have worked up an appetite, enjoy a bite to eat at Jester’s restaurant and pub which is conveniently located within the facility.

Roller Skating in Westchester County, NY

1. EJ Murray Memorial Skating Center

348 Tuckahoe Road, Yonkers
Approximate drive from Nanuet: 25 minutes
Hours: Call for skating schedule
Cost: $11; $3 seniors; $4 skate rental

EJ Murray Memorial Skating Center offers roller skating sessions May-August. With everything from first-time roller skating lessons and roller skating classes, to roller sports, figure skating, hockey, skating clubs, and an ice-skating show, the kids are sure to stay active and engaged. 

Roller Skating in New Jersey

1. Inline Skating Club of America

170 Schuyler Ave., North Arlington
Approximate drive from Nanuet: 40 minutes
Hours: Saturday, 1-3pm; Sunday (beginning Sept. 5), 1-3pm
Cost: $11; $5 skate rental

The rink, which is home to the Grizzlies traveling hockey team, offers open skating, skating lessons for beginners, hockey lessons, a video game arcade, a snack bar, birthday parties, and more.

2. Branch Brook Park Roller Skating Center

7th and Clifton avenues, Newark
Approximate drive from Nanuet: 40 minutes
Hours: Monday and Wednesday, 12-4pm and 6-8pm; Tuesday and Thursday, 12-4pm;  Friday, 12-4pm and 7-11:30pm; Saturday, 12:30-2:30pm, 3-5pm, 5:30-7:30pm, and 8-10pm; Sunday, 3-5pm and 5:30-7:30pm
Cost: $6-$15; $5 skate rental 

Head to Branch Brook Park for public skating and lessons, themed skate nights set to the best music, STEM field trips, special holiday weekend skating events, arcade games, and more. The rink features a refurbished interior.

3. Florham Park Roller Rink

192 Ridgedale Ave., Florham Park
Approximate drive from Nanuet: 45 minutes
Hours: The rink is closed for the month of August for building maintenance, but aims to reopen in September.
Cost: $8; $4 skate rental

This rink specializes in beginner group lessons, private lessons, and figure skating. There’s even a figure skating team! Birthday parties will resume in September when the rink opens again after August maintenance.
