Roller Skating Rinks in the New York Area

Better skate than never!

Roller skating isn't just a great way for kids to be active and stay healthy, it’s also a fun, inexpensive pastime that the whole family can enjoy. Whether it's too cold to play outside or it's too hot to handle to the sweltering summer, here’s where to get rolling in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Staten Island, Long Island, and Westchester County.

Manhattan Roller Rinks

Pier 62 Skatepark

143 Eleventh Ave.

For an unforgettable New York experience, children and adults can enjoy some outdoor skating within the setting of the magnificent Hudson River Park at Pier 62 Skatepark. The 15,000-square-foot skatepark is designed to suit all levels, from beginners through to experienced skaters, and welcomes visitors every day of the year. Best of all, it’s completely free to enter! After a skate, be sure to grab a bite to eat at neighboring Chelsea Piers.

Riverbank Skating Rink

Situated in New York’s Riverbank State Park in Harlem, Riverbank skating rink is a covered rink open from May through October (weather permitting). With breathtaking views of the Hudson River, George Washington Bridge, and Palisades, tennis and basketball courts, swimming pools, a carousel, picnic areas, and a restaurant, the park really offers something for everyone.

Brooklyn Roller Rinks

Lincoln Road and Ocean Avenue

Looking for a roller skating rink in Brooklyn? Head over to the sprawling outdoor 16,000-square-foot roller rink set in the scenic parkland of Prospect Park. The rink is open to all ages and abilities making it the perfect activity for the whole family. And, if all that exercise leaves you and the little ones feeling hungry, relax and enjoy an après-skate meal or snack, at the Bluestone Café.  The center is open from April through October.

Pier 2 Roller Rink

150 Furman St.

Lower Manhattan provides an impressive backdrop for skaters at Pier 2 roller rink-  a 13,200-square-foot rink located within the grounds of Brooklyn Bridge Park. The rink, which is open from April to late fall, offers up a mix of public skating sessions for kids and adults as well as recreational league play. In addition to roller skating, visitors can get busy with a wide array of activities including basketball, handball, shuffleboard and bocce ball.

Dreamland Roller Rink

Stillwell Ave., Brooklyn

If you’re looking for a unique roller-skating experience, Dreamland is your place. Anything but traditional, this rink features themed skate parties, with '80s roller disco attire, dance contests and lessons, and many carnival and burlesque performers. Check the website for the next theme.

Staten Island Roller Rinks

Enjoy roller skating all year round at one of Staten Island’s best entertainment venues. This unique roller skating facility offers plenty of fun for all the family, with activities ranging from public skating sessions, birthday parties, bounce houses, and arcade games. Guests can also enjoy a post-skate snack (or drink!) in the café area.

Long Island Roller Rinks

Hot Skates

14 Merrick Road, Lynbrook

If you’re looking for an enjoyable day out, where the kids (and you!) can learn or practice roller skating in a fun and safe environment, Hot Skates is the place to go. The venue boasts a real maple wood rink, a superb state-of-the-art sound system and game room. There is also an on-site snack bar, which serves up classic American fare, including pizza, nachos, and buffalo wings. The center also offers a variety of different party packages for kids 4 and older. 

United Skates of America

1276 Hicksville Road, Seaford

This classic facility for roller skating also offers an arcade and a menu of pizza, hot dogs, and wings. Check the website for each daily schedule and special offers.

Connecticut Roller Rinks

Roller Magic Skating Center

60 Harvester Road, Waterbury

Come and skate the day away at this classic skating rink. Additional services include an arcade area, prize counter, special effects lighting, free parking, and full-service snack bar.

Ron-A-Roll Skating Center

85 South Frontage Road, Vernon

Check the website for the daily schedule for public skating. Other activities include video games, six private rooms for birthday parties, a private DJ, a snack bar, a light show while skating, and discounts for groups.



Middletown Roller Skating Rink

547 Main St., Middletown

An old-school roller rink, this old-time treasure has a light show and music playing while skating. This rink is a hit with kids, with skating games and a retro vibe.

The Skate Inn

992 Norwich Road, Plainfield

Affordable fun for the whole family, this little-known spot is open Thursday-Sunday for the public. Call for the complete hours. Admission is $9 per person, includes skate rental, and there are specific times for kid and adult skating sessions. Every Friday and Saturday are pizza nights.


Westchester Roller Rinks

EJ Murray Memorial Skating Center

348 Tuckahoe Road, Yonkers

Situated in Yonkers, EJ Murray Memorial Skating Center offers roller skating sessions throughout the summer season. With everything from first-time roller skating lessons, roller skating class with coached training sessions, to roller sports, figure skating, inline hockey, speed skating, skate fit, tricks, and freestyle, the kids are sure to stay active and engaged. Roller skating is offered until October, at which point they switch to ice skating. They will be closed during the 2018 year for rennovations and will resume service afterwards.

The Castle Fun Center

109 Brookside Ave., Chester

The Castle Fun Center is the perfect destination for roller skating recreation for all ages and every occasion. The venue not only features a 10,000-square-foot roller rink complete with a lighting and sound show but also go-karting tracks, a multi-level laser tag arena, miniature golf courses, arcade, and rock climbing wall. Once you have worked up an appetite, enjoy a bite to eat at the Jester’s restaurant and pub which is conveniently located within the facility.



Hyde Park Roller Magic

4178 Albany Post Road, Hyde Park

Whatever the weather is doing outside, Hyde Park Roller Magic offers budding skaters of all ages and abilities a variety of programs including family skating sessions, junior roller derby boot camps, and skate parties. If your child is brave enough to roller-dance, the family-run center also hosts regular disco events featuring a live DJ and light effects.
