Two New Summer Camps for Children with Social Deficits

Rockland Jewish Family Service Summer Camps for Children with Social Deficits will offer two new programs this summer: Camp Kipanga for children ages 5-10 and Camp Katikati for children ages 11-13. The camps are for children with social deficits such as autism, ADD, and social anxiety.

Rockland Jewish Family Service Summer Camps for Children with Social Deficits, which has offered Total Teen Experience since 2011, plans to offer two new camps this summer for younger children with social deficits such as autism, ADD, and social anxiety. Camp Kipanga is for children ages 5-10, and Camp Katikati is for children ages 11-13.

RJFS summer camps aim to give children a positive camp experience in a supportive environment. Camps Kipanga and Katikati are geared to help campers enhance their social skills and build peer relationships, and provide campers with activities they will enjoy, including theater, science and discovery, and swimming. Camp Katikati also offers specialty activities such as photography and videography.

“The biggest component of this camp is that it looks and feels like any other summer camp,” says Michele Koenig, director of clinical programs at Rockland Jewish Family Service. “We will provide the added support that these kids need to have a positive and enjoyable summer camp experience.”

Parents can sign their children up for four, five, or six weeks of summer camp. Each camp includes fun trips on Fridays, swimming five days per week, snacks, and a camp T-shirt. Extended care is also available for an extra fee.

RJFS Summer Camps for Children with Social Deficits will be held on the Ramapo College campus.
