With the heat of summer here, those who would like to cool off can enjoy a refreshing swim at one of the public pools in Rockland County, NY, free of a summer-long commitment. Many of these Rockland County swim areas are not just open to residents but to anyone looking for a public pool. So, if you are looking for some great swimming pools in Rockland County to bring the kids for a fun summer day, here’s where to go:

1. Tallman Mountain State Park

2 Tallman Mountain Road, Sparkill
845-422-7126
Hours: July 4-Sept. 6, daily, 11am-7pm (unless it rains). Friday-Saturday, band night, 7-10pm.
Admission: Monday-Friday: $15; $10 children ages 5-12; free for children younger than 5. Saturday-Sunday: $20; $15 children ages 5-12; free for children younger than 5. Concert series $10.

Here, the little ones can splash in a 2-foot kiddie pool or dig or build castles in a sandy beach area. There is also a restaurant and bar, as well as great views of Piermont Marsh and the Hudson River to enjoy. In addition, there are convenient changing rooms available.

2. Spook Rock Pool

171 Spook Rock Road, Suffern

Hours: Through Sept. 6: Monday-Friday, 11:30am-8pm; Saturday-Sunday, 11am-8pm
Admission: Pool is only open to Ramapo residents with an ID card.

This pool is great for families who want to swim after their summer daily activities! It’s open late until 8pm every night. Toddlers will enjoy the splash pad. In the past it’s been open to non-town residents, but in 2021 it’s only open to Ramapo residents with Pool ID Cards

3. Saddle River Pool

448 Saddle River Road, Airmont

Hours: Through Sept. 6: Monday-Friday, 11:30am-8pm; Saturday-Sunday, 11am-8pm
Admission: For non-residents and non-ID Card holders: Monday-Friday: $18; $13 children ages 2-17. Saturday-Sunday: $20; $15 children ages 2-17



This pool welcomes non-town residents and non-ID Card holders, making it perfect for families from all over who don’t want to commit to a summer-long membership. There is a large kiddie pool and an area with a large shaded sandbox. There is also a basketball court. This pool is also open late until 8pm for those who crave an early evening swim.

4. Bowline Point Park

Bowline Road, Haverstraw

Hours: Through Sept. 6: Monday-Friday, 12-7pm; Saturday-Sunday, 11am-7pm
Admission: Non-pass holders: Residents: $15 Monday-Friday; $25 Saturday-Sunday and holidays. Non-residents: $20 Monday-Friday; $35 Saturday-Sunday and holidays.

This park will keep your family entertained every visit. The Olympic-sized pool includes diving boards, two water slides, a toddler pool, and a handicap-accessible water spray area. 5. Germonds Pool 

185 Germonds Road, West Nyack

Hours: Through Aug. 15: daily, 12-7:45pm; Aug. 16-Sept. 6: daily, 12-6:45pm 
Admission: This pool is only open to Clarkstown residents, but guests are welcome: Non-pass holders: $14; $12 children ages 13-17; $8 children ages 2-12; $7 seniors ages 60 and older

Individuals here have their pick of pools to take a refreshing swim or learn to dive. There is a main Olympic-sized pool, a kiddie pool, and a diving pool with a slide for those who dare to take the plunge. There is also an adjacent, but unaffiliated, playground right alongside the pool area.
