New Craft and Chocolate Summer Sessions for Kids Now Offered at Chocolatier Matisse Orangeburg

Starting in July, Chocolatier Matisse Orangeburg will offer a series of summer sessions in which kids can either dip a chocolate treat or receive a chocolate treat. Children of various ages are invited to enroll in one or more sessions. Chocolatier Matisse Orangeburg will host its summer craft and chocolate sessions on July 27, July 30, and Aug. 14-16.

Each session is about an hour and a half to two hours in length, depending on the intensity of the craft, and lunch is usually provided. Registration fees range from $16-$25, which includes the cost of materials, chocolate, and lunch.

Each session is distinct. In one session, kids can try their hand at button crafting or painting a ceramic bowl. Other projects include decorating wind chimes and guided painting on canvas. At the end of each session, children are encouraged to take their finished projects and treats home with them.

Located in the Orangetown Shopping Center in Orangeburg, Chocolatier Matisse specializes in, of course, chocolate: hand dipped treats, truffles, cluster, and bars. It also offers dessert-catering services, and its private party room is available for a variety of events, including birthdays, anniversaries, field trips, and company team building sessions. The store is open from 10:30am-6pm, Tuesday-Friday, and from 10:30am-5pm on Saturdays.

Owner Danielle Hudak describes the craft and chocolate summer sessions as the product of a sweet collaboration between her and a fellow artist and small business owner. In fact, this collaborative spirit is a not-so-secret ingredient of the summer sessions, as many of the crafts and treats that kids will be working on, including the pottery bowls and wind chimes, come from several of the small businesses around the area, such as Glaze, a pottery and art studio.

“I love chocolate and I love being creative,” says Hudak. “It’s just good to bring in other businesses that are just starting out. It’s just small businesses helping each other.”
