Clarkstown Reformed Church Starts Support Group for Moms

Clarkstown Reformed Church in West Nyack now offers a Mothers of Preschoolers group, which provides support for moms of newborn to 5-year-old children.

Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) is a movement that works to encourage and support every mom to meet the needs of their children, see their potential in motherhood, and become women leaders.

Clarkstown Reformed Church teamed up with MOPS to start a support group for moms in January 2017. Although the group is located in West Nyack, Clarkstown Reformed Church welcomes all moms of New York. The group meets every third Friday of the month at Clarkstown Reformed Church and welcomes moms of all different faiths with newborn to 5-year-old children.

Through the MOPS group, Clarkstown Reformed Church in West Nyack offers mentoring, leadership development, practical teaching, discussion, and more for moms. Moms get the opportunity to discuss the joys and frustrations of motherhood, exchange information or advice, participate in demonstrations and presentations, and find community. Topics in the church’s MOPS group can range from the parenting tendencies of different generations to the challenges of being a good role model for children in times of personal struggle.

“Our goals are to be a service to the community and create a place where moms can come together and get support,” says Pastor Sheree Lear, minister at the Clarkstown Reformed Church in West Nyack.
