Wholeness Center of Rockland Adds Art Classes for Kids

Wholeness Center of Rockland Adds Art Classes for Kids

Starting in April the Wholeness Center of Rockland will be launching its Artist Discovery classes for kid’s ages 4-6 and 7-9.

The classes will run for four weeks and cost $80 if you register for all four classes in advance. Walk-ins are welcome and cost $22.

The class for kids ages 4-6 will be held on Tuesdays at 3:45pm starting on April 10.

Each week will focus on a different theme including "Hear Me Roar" (watercolors), "Slippery Sliding Silly Seal" (chalk pastels), "Love Bug" (oil pastels/sandpaper), and "Who You Looking At" (prismacolor markers/chalk pastels).

The class for kids ages 7-9 will be held on Saturdays from 10-12pm beginning April 14. The themes include: "Finish Line" (pastel chalk), "Shine On Me" (flair brushes/markers), "Buggin' Out" (fabric banners), "Peaceful Waters" (charcoal).

“An important thing we focus on is to help children build self-confidence in a safe and peaceful environment. It is beautiful here and we have a beautiful little classroom where all the walls are whiteboard so they can draw on the walls. And we want them to work with all mediums. Each class uses a different medium such as watercolors, chalk pastels, sandpaper, oil pastels, and color markers. The older kids will use pastel chalk, paint and brushes, fabric banners, charcoal. So they really get introduced to all forms of art. And they get to see what feels good to them and they can go from there,” says owner and director Michelle Miller.

“The basic premise behind this course is really about bringing out the artistic side of the child, who maybe thought they never could do art or be creative before. The theme that we like to stress during the class is that there are no mistakes,” says Miller.

Registration is currently open and can be done so online. For more information visit or call 845-268-7532.
