Owner and Director Palisades Country Day Schools and Camp is Selected as 2019 Woman of Distinction

Owner and Director Palisades Country Day Schools and Camp is Selected as 2019 Woman of Distinction

Congratulations, Mary Ann!

Mary Ann Hubschman, owner and director of Palisades Country Day School in Closter, NJ and Palisades Preschool in Fort Lee, NJ, has been selected as an honored member in the Trademark Women of Distinction 2019 Honors Edition for her exemplary contributions in the field of early childhood education. Hubschman, with more than 50 years experience, has served the thousands of Northern New Jersey-area children that have passed through the doors of both schools.

When it opened in 1965, The Palisades Preschool in Fort Lee was the only school in the area that was built specifically for young child. Hubschman infused her school with her love of learning. Capitalizing on her successes in Fort Lee and responding to requests of former students with young children of their own living in suburbs north of Fort Lee, Hubschman, in 1993, opened her second school in Closter. The educational philosophy of both schools was and remains focused on the intellectual, emotional, and social growth of each individual child.

The sprawling campus in Closter is home to both a school and summer day camp that caters to the needs of the youngest campers, ages 18 months-9 years. Accredited by the American Camp Association, Palisades is home to numerous outdoor swimming pools, a splash park, a covered arts and crafts pavilion, an on-site food hut, and a multilevel children's playground in order to provide children with a summer that is “All About Fun.” Palisades Country Day School and Camp is proud to have served the Northern Valley community for the last 25 years and looks forward to continuing to educate future leaders for many years to come.

Hubschman encourages her students to continue to follow their dreams, to “make a difference, and to build upon their first good beginning!”

Hubschman has been selected to receive this honor for demonstrating dedication, leadership, and professional excellence. Her years of service along with her level of expertise and positive peer rating also contributed to her inclusion. The Trademark Women of Distinction Award encompasses expert female members representing every major industry. Trademark Women of Distinction Honors Edition aims to highlight the professional accomplishments and stories of today’s best and brightest women in business, and works towards the preservation of each individual woman's story.

Hubschman aims to make a difference not only through service in her field, but also through philanthropic contributions to the greater community. She and her husband made a sizable donation to the children’s library in the Joseph M. Sanzari Children’s Hospital wing at Hackensack University Medical Centerwhich is home to more than 2,000 books. The Hubschmans also offer scholarships to families in financial need. Additoinally, in recognition of Closter’s 25th anniversary, Hubschman is sponsoring four scholarships to former students who are members of the 2019 Northern Valley Demarest and Old Tappan classes who wish to pursue a career in education. The schools “Make a Difference” program is intended to instill empathy and create awareness amongst the students about the concept of “Sharing is Caring.”

Hubschman has met many milestones during her career educating young children. Most recently, she was awarded the Fort Lee Chamber of Commerce 2015 Person of the Year in recognition of her 50 years of success as a prominent business woman. The entire PCDS and PCDC staff congratulates Mary Ann on this well deserved recognition and wishes her continued success.
