Fabric Lady Opens in Congers NY

The Fabric Lady, a fabric and sewing supply store in Congers, New York, opened in April, offering sewing and quilting classes, craft activities, and crafty birthday parties. In August, the store will offer an arts and crafts summer camp for kids.

On April 1, Wendy Kessler opened Fabric Lady in Congers, with the mission to meet all of the community's sewing needs. "I have a tremendous amount of novelties, anything the sewer could want," Kessler says. "Stores like mine are few and far between."

In addition to adult and children's classes, private sewing lessons, and on-site birthday parties, Kessler will debut a summer camp program for kids at the store this month.

Classes include quilting, basic sewing, zipper application, button sewing, and even T-shirt quilting. Running from one and a half to three hours, these classes cater to both novice and advanced sewers.

 During birthday parties at Fabric Lady, which run from one and a half to two hours, younger kids can sew something from a pre-cut pattern, like a pillow, while older kids work on more advanced projects, such as quilting. 

At Fabric Lady's summer day camp, which runs from August 15 to August 19, kids ages 5 and up will work on a variety of crafty projects at their own pace.
